Flowers are some of the most photogenic things on the planet and like many others I was drawn in early to trying to capture them in all their glory.
It soon became clear that to do this, it is better to shoot in Macro or in other words very close up and with a short focal length to put the background out of focus.
Dedicated Macro lenses are relatively expensive and so I tracked down a close up lens that fits onto the front of a normal lens just like a filter. This is produced by Canon and is called the 500D and to the best of my knowledge is the only item of Canon equipment that fits onto Nikon.
I have used it with great success and many of the macro images on www.photographs247.co.uk are taken with it. It is especially good for travelling light if you are going on holiday for example and don’t want to have to take a full bag of kit and pay excess baggage and risk loss or damage.
It comes in different diameters to suit many lenses and is well worth investigating.
